I'm not voting for him again. Guantanamo. Libya. Too much of the same. I'm either going Green or Paultard, even though my NY state vote is effectively null.

Afraid I'm not catching the reference.

I gotta agree with Toshi on this one. Though its very early still, I'm certainly not going to vote for which ever mouth breathing tard the republicans put up, but I would very much like to see any sort of even half-viable 3rd party candidate. I'm only voting for Obama this go around if it comes down to him vs a tea bagger.

George W. Bush cured me of the "they're both the same, I'm voting for a 3rd candidate" mentality. If you honestly think that we'd be in the same position that we're in now if McCain/Palin had won, go vote 3rd party... As for me I'll vote for the lesser of the two evils.

But its not two evils. Its the same corporate plutocracy split by advertising agency affiliation. :tinfoil:

I *think* Jon is joking, but part of me is starting to believe that what he suggests might actually be the only real choice left.

Yep, I've decided to become a full-on Obama defender.

I think he is doing a better job than most of my liberal brethren, mostly because I am a moderate. However, if I hear more whining about how Obama is not liberal enough, then I usually say, "Pawlenty/Huckabee/Romney/Bachmann for 2012!"

Even though all of my friends are going to vote for Obama again, the real problem is undecideds, and all the criticism by both sides could create enough of a poor image than a Republican slips in.

Undecideds or "stay at homes". I mean, seriously, you have someone like Pesqueeb stating:

And it's like people forgot the 8 years under GWB. I mean, I close my eyes every once in a while and picture how this would be if McCain/Palin had won......... Guantanamo would still be open. We probably would have had BIGGER tax cuts for the wealthy / bigger budget deficits. Unemployment would be higher. We'd probably be fully at war with Iran, Yemen, Libya and Sudan. Etc.

Do I support everything BO's done? Nope. Would I vote for him in the primary if there were more reasonable candidates? Probably not. Will I vote for him over whatever Palin/Romney/Pawlenty/Huckabee/Jindal/etc candidate the GOP decides to put up? Oh HELL YEAH.

As opposed to the half-assed wars were fighting there now? I agree with your statement about voting for him over the (R)assclowns, and what I was saying is that if there were more reasonable candidates I would vote for them over Obama. But I'm tired of the constant Democratic capitulation to the retards on the right. The Tea Baggers have moved so far fvcking right that when "Mr. Moderate" meets them in the "middle" were still regressing to 1950's cold war McCarthyism, and Jim Crowe. And I'll stand behind my corporate plutocracy statement. Neither party gives two flying fvcks about what happens to the middle class of this country because they are too busy whoring themselves out to their associated corporate pimps so that they can cement "consulting" positions at Goldman or various "think tanks" post politics.

not a matter of if, just when, we will get our class war.

I heard something on NPR the other day, don't remember what program, to the effect that pretty much every major revolution has been proceeded by the sort of gross wealth split like we see today. French Revolution, Bolshevik Revolution, etc.

Yep, America...Land of the Greed.

Until our society starts taking a more pragmatic approach to identifying and solving problems we're screwed. Between the Tea-tards, blissfully blind liberals, and the greed of those in upper and upper-middle class who mull about like they are in a life-sized game of "Monopoly" and "LIFE" I don't see how anything is going to change.

At this point my last hope is that groups of scientists and physicists infiltrate one of the two parties all Manchurian Candidate style.

I'm with you. If someone is a significantly more viable candidate as a 3rd party option they get my vote. I'd feel better knowing that I would be expediting the whole process of this house of cards falling upon itself.

Maybe you read one of the 100 posts in PAWN saying the same crap.

Yeah it's fun to talk about but I hope that no one on here actually believes we are headed towards revolution.

How many people do you know who are so pissed that they are ready to give a go at overthrowing the government (not just talk about it and have a d!ck waving contest)?

Sure Amerikans love to bitch and moan but I think when people take a serious look at their situation they realize they have it pretty good. Even the people I know who lost jobs or have underwater mortgages are still managing.

I think you guys underestimate how bad stuff was before the French/Bolshevik revolutions.

Egypt wasn't due for a revolution for another 20 years.
Start comparing when Obama enacts "emergency law" and rules for 30 years.

It's funny to see how upset people are over Obama's actions as president. During the general election he portrayed himself as a centrist. As president, he has been exactly that. While he has disappointed me in many, perhaps most, ways... just think of the alternative. Same stuff except seasoned with prayer in schools, curtailing of abortion rights, increased denuding of natural resources, etc. etc.

IMO, and this is purely MO since I have nothing to back this up, I think once he doesn't have to worry about being re-elected you'll see a much more "liberal" Obama.

Edit: BTW, don't discount how much joy you'll get watching the teabaggers' collective heads explode with another Obama win.

IMHO I think people have lost perspective on how far the scale has moved. Obama being a centrist today pretty much makes him a moderate republican from 1982. The Right has moved so far right as to be off the map, meeting them in the middle still puts you squarely in the capital of retard-land. I don't see that as progress.
I hope your right about the second term liberal because he so far hasn’t been a first term one.
