and no Hope or Shimano or Hayes suggestions....I'm specifically interested in these brakes. I' ve notice that they have a wierd sizing patter. only 190mm up front and 160 in the back? Anyone care to explain? and are they international standard?

I've had mine for 2 years and love them. Great lever feel, modulation, super powerfull and take abuse well. The Floating caliper is nice also in case the rotor gets banged up but they're pretty tough too.
You do have to take a little time in the setup. You really should have the fork and frame faced -Magura has a nifty little tool for it and you have to play a little bit getting the right amount of spacers in but it's worth the extra effort IMO. It's really one of the things I take for granted now on the bike.
Once it's set up when you spin the wheel there is sometimes a little ching, ching but it's not drag persay, just the caliper "floating" with any inconsistancies with the rotor.
Magura also suggests you do not store the bike upside down because if there is any air in the resivoir it can possibly work it's way into the line.

I've got their freeride brakes for the trail too and they are 100% awsome.
Coudn't be happier with Magura, good company, great product.

Try posting a question to this on the MTBR DH/FR forum addressed to www.knollybikes.com. Noel has been using the Gustav brakes on his V-tach prototypes and also has them as an option in the build kits for the frames.

I've ridden a V-tach with them and they seem pretty nice. I would consider them if I did not already have a set of Saint/XT brakes.

they are the best brakes i have ever owned. they were on 3 different dh rigs before i ever had a problem with em. mine were the old school neon yellow one. i need to do a rebuild on the lever of the front one so i can ditch my crappy hayes and run them again.

so I'm changing the levers to XT (yes it's working).
