i have yet to listen to isbell yet....my bad....

one of my die hard hippie friends from high school swears one of the best shows he has seen was dwight yokam....

only thought.....this is what happens when you smoke to much weed.....

I've actually seen Lyle with his big band a couple of times plus he was at "An evening with the songwriters" at the Fox Redwood City. 4 guys talking about how they came up with certain songs then playing them solo on Acoustic Guitar. Sort of a giant living room BS session, it was great

Doh! Wish I'd have seen this in time. Two of my favorites. Been listening to Lyle for decades, and saw Jason Isbell two years ago at Popejoy Hall (Amanda Shires stayed home, sadly, so more guitar and less fiddle).

It was really good, but not great. There Was way more storytelling (and mutual admiration) than songs, I think they only played eight 4 minute songs. We also had some buffering issues. LL sounded pretty raspy. JI pulled the weight. I really have to go back to the early DBT albums and listen to his guitar work...
