Someone is heading to Louisiana and I looked to see if they are running yet. They are not, but I realized that I have missed the last 7 years of Thoroughbred racing. They start up in TX soon, so I may have to make some trips.

You all should visit Louisville during the Kentucky derby. One HUGE weeklong party. I could give two ****s about the horses, i am going to throw down (or throw up) in the infield.

Oh I LOVE goin to the track! They don't call me Longshot Lisa for nuthin! We go to Bay Meadows all the time...so fun...and the horses are so cute...I have won some money by picking out horses based on what they look like...I typically always choose the gray ones, cuz of Zakk...and then I watch em in the ring before the race...whatever one I think is cutest and usually if one might make eye contact with me or one that might have some attitude with his trainer...I always pick a trifecta box.

One of the most fun things I did in Vegas last year was to sit in the sports book at MGM and watch the Belmont Stakes race when Smarty Jones and Rock Hard Ten ran...it was crazy in that sportsbook...it was so fun...people screamin, yellin...

Yeah that was some crazy sh!t...the screaming was so loud...I guess a lot of people had a lot of money on the race...

They had some form where you could place wagers on literally everything. Like you could bet on whether or not you thought a fighter and a horse would win in the same wager...well...that same weekend a guy named Bernard Hopkins was fighting...and I saw this sheet that said you could bet on Smarty Jones and Bernard Hopkins winning or losing...I thought Bernard Hopkins was another horse...I was all...what are his odds! HA!

My grandfather on my dad's side of the family was a gambler by trade, and, although I never met him, the one piece of advice that was passed down through the family was: "Don't ever bet on the ponies."

My dad told me he went to track with his father once and he was a little confused so he said, "Dad. I though you never bet on the ponies." His father looked at him and said, "I said don't bet unless you know who is going to win. Now shut up."

i grew up going to delta downs. my mom and her family grew up in venton and most everybody that lives there works/ed there at one point or another.
so i got to hang out behind the sceens and stuff. my cousin was a jockey.
if they would bring in table games to the track i'd be there EVERY weekend. we sometimes go to the place there in town and it's fun with a group. they going to pass a video slots law pretty soon so you wont have to go all the way to stinky o'l la to get your game on, you can come to stinky o'l htown :)

There was enough partying going on in Venton that I really don't remember the weeks I spent there. I saw lots of new rules being made on the backside. It truly is a carnival atomosphere there.
