Yeah, just read that review. It’s pretty tepid. But the author has some strong feelings on things. I would love to demo one.
Can I ask why you prefer the shorter reach?

I actually figured out my bike strategy for ‘21.
i am getting an Altitude (160/180) for plowing, and I am converting my existing Instinct BC to 140/150 for mellower rides, climbing days, and the like.
it has the perfect geometry for a more playful bike.
I already have the right shock, fork, and rocker arm.
everything else swaps over as is.
The solution was right in front of my eyes in my shed.

A sea pig?!? Where do you acquire such things? Asking for a friend...I was sorely tempted to buy one of these back in July, but was put off by the wait time.
