What are they yellow powder coating you could probably buy some and get them coated ,you might have a problem with the regular rims because they are some what polished ,but then again you could rough them up  Yes you can do it just a real pain masking all those spoke holes . what color are you going to get   Good Luck

judging from your avatar i thought you would want to powdercoat in a different color, maybe camo......
seems you had too much fun in botanics class, eh?

i had a pair of bonti race wheels that were powdercoated yellow and they looked real trick, didnt seem to be any weaker, stayed straight with so few spokes i couldnt believe it.

what ive heard is that anodizing does weaken the metal but since everybody and their dog does it, its probably not important,

powdercoating on the other hand i guess is totally cool and i cant see any reason why not to do it save for weight, anodizing probably doesny weigh anything but a good powdercoat probably adds like an ounce to your wheels.

Hey Lurch,

As long as the rims are stripped to bare metal you shouldn't have any concerns(ie:paint peeling, etc)

I stripped my DW's (orginally black)last year and had them coated yellow. Of course the eyelets get coated too.

They've held up quite well, considering the abuse the withstand.

Good luck,

please tell us how your experiment went (no, not the class!) when you complete it, maybe someone else has the hots for colormatching their bike (i might for one........)
hope you are well underway with "writing" next years "study material" for your "class". its that time of year you know, or come autumn and you wont have anything to study with.........

but i just found out that my work can wet spray black.. so i might get it done there. i duno which will survive a beating more, powder or wet spray. the one we do at work is for excavition buckets and hitches and so forth so i guess that would be pretty durable. and cheaper ;)
but yeah, ill post when its done. thanks for the advice!

P.S sully, u make some pretty cool stuff man! im guessin u laser cut those rotors out. how expensive is it compared to plasma cutting? i gota geta chain guide cut outa stainless and im just wondering which is better. any suggestions re warping and edge finish?
