I basically have no time to ride after work or on weekends (don't get me started on why :mumble: ), so I was thinking about getting up early and riding before work.

My thought was to be on the trail by 5, home and in the shower by 6:45, the to work on time by 7:30. Anyone up this early to ride? How do you feel come mid-afternoon?

I don't think I'd have any problem getting myself out of bed, but I can see myself really dragging come 3:00.

I do some early rides on the weekends to beat the heat in the summer. My big problem is I have no energy to ride unless I have had 2 meals in my stomach or a huge breakfast.

I get up every morning and do a road ride before work. Nice and cool, and the traffic is light. And then yesterday I ruined my rear wheel on my road bike dammit!

But, to answer your question, it usually helps me to have energy during the day, and I'm not dragging at all come mid afternoon.

The only thing about early morning trail rides around here is spiders. The spiders like to make webs right across the trail. It's kinda unnerving. They're harmless, but having webs, dead bugs and spiders in your face at speed gives me the heebie-jeebies.

I go out early... but not like 5:30 early. Every Friday a bunch of us meet up to shuttle a quick dh run before work. Meet at 6:30, done by 7:30. It's easier to do when you are meeting other people... you can't just hit snooze or you friend will get cranky.

Ah, I think I'm going to try it a couple times during the week. The cool air feels good in the morning and it just seems weird being in the gym when it's so nice outside:)

Its just plain wrong to be sitting on a stationary bike inside when its so nice out. Around here, morning temps have been hovering around the mid 50's to low 60's. Feels so nice.

I've been going on road rides with my stepdad lately before he goes to work. Not quite as early as most of you guys, but leave at about 6:15 and return by about 7:15-7:30. Afterwards I'll take a shower and then end up taking a nice hour or so long nap. :D It's quite nice. :)

Well, I got all my crap loaded up last night, rolled out of bed this a.m. about 4:45, let the dogs out, and was on the trail by 5. I rode for about an hour, came home, fixed breakfast, got showered/dressed and was at work *cough* early. Not sure if I'll ride longer or sleep longer next time...

Felt really good to be out (once the legs got going), though my body did protest off and on throughout the ride. I can tell I'm going to feel it today, but if I keep riding my body should adjust.

I'm about to leave in the next 10minutes or so. Should be a short road ride this morning though as I have to get back and shower then go meet up with my ride to Crested Butte. Since I'll be going to the MSC race this weekend. :D

Nice!

Some days I feel really energized after riding early, and some days I'm dragging by the end of the day. On Tuesday I felt great all day. Even through the evening. Yesterday, however, I was dead by the time I got home from work. I think it all depends on how well I sleep the night before.
