Recently bought an '04 Manitou Black Platinum used, with one or two rides on it. Yes, I trust the guy I got it from. Problem is that I locked it out, and now it WON'T UNLOCK. I'm wondering if anyone out there has heard of this, and if so, is this an easy problem to take care of or should I have it serviced??

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Get a new cartridge, just a one travel setting damping rod.

I know there was a problem back in '02 or '03 where the travel adjuster would get stuck in the short travel position. The remedy was to remove the topcap and "clock" it whatever that means, I assume just screw the travel adjuster out of the spring and reinsert it where it's supposed to be. As far as lockout I'm guessing a similar procedure would help. It's likely that there's some spring or screw or something that holds the compression valve shut and it's just gotten hung up and won't release the valve.
