i thought that the older super deluxe coil that came originally on my nomad was quite good. haven't heard many negative things about these-does this one have the hydraulic bottom out

I can't see it from the images, and I know it was optional so I'm thinking they opted for the non HBO version for these builds. I'm not finding a lot of negative press on them, which is promising. I just blew up too many DHX2s to wanna go back to anything similar. Thanks for responding, I appreciate it.

The newer SD Coils are really good. The shaft is like double the size of a DHX2, and is rated for even shock-exploding yoke designs.

What about the X-Fusion HC3 coil that comes on the elite? Anyone have any time on one? I have a super deluxe that I grabbed for my Gambler that will fit if the X-Fusion is a turd.

New rockshox are badass...the vivid air is the closest thing to a coil I've ridden and bottom out is awesome..haven't rode the coil but have a couple buddies on it..1 without HBO 1 on HBO ..both love the shock.

Yes dhx2 shocks blow up all the time...(As stated above)

Have a friend on the xfusion he loves it said it's consistent...I haven't ridden 1 and a lot of people don't have them around here so I don't see them for repair on the better ones...the basic ones or enduro oe ones I repair a lot for leaks and internal seal issues though..but those are the basic cheap ones

I have been running the coil vivid with HBO on my 170mm Vitus Sommet 29 since September ...
Ive never ridden an air shock close to it. I've ridden the new vivid air too. (although not on the same bike)
I don't dislike air shocks. They're just different and I like those differences in different situations.
Ive only run HBO full open on my vivid. I'm not a hucker and my old fucked body prefers smoother landings tho so just haven't been in a situation I've felt the need to wind any on yet.
