with success? I'm building a commuter for a friend and the seattube is a lot thinner around than I'd imagined. I'd like to use an XT or even the LX I have aournd the house, but it's too large in diameter. I'm not worried about scratching the frame or the cosmetic issue, just wondering if the ole soda can shim will work like on a seatpost.

Soda cans will cause catastrophic frame failure. Beer cans work much better.

unless it's PBR, cans are blashpemous beer-wise. :)
Yes, but a wise man once said, "A beer in a can is better than no beer at all."
For instance, at New Hampshire International Speedway, they do not allow glass bottles, but you are allowed to bring coolers so long as they are less than 14" high.

Yup. Nothing better than one hundred ounces of beer in a rubber container.
How about TWO hundred ounces of beer in a rubber container? This is America, dammit. Bigger is better.

CON: Beer in a Cammel Back would shake up easier, causing it to go flat.

PRO: That same action would be like having a self-pumping keg.

VERDICT: The less effort you have to expend to drink, the better. Plus, as a side benefit, you could just squeeze the bite valve and spray beer into the mouths of you riding buddies without having to slow down.:D
