We had these at the shop I used to work at. I thought they were horribly uncomfortable. I would never sacrafice grips in the name of looks, its one of two points of contact you have with the bike.

thanks i wasnt asking about looks i was wondering about the feel of the grooves but if their uncomfortable then yes i agree there not worth it
