Up between them and Verizon because Nextel is overpriced and sucks...

Cingular is about 20-30 bucks cheaper for the same package than verizion but what is their service like?

I use Cingular in rural (we're talking cow country) Upstate, NY and don't have a problem with their service. I find their plans easy to work with (and I can change them all the time which is really nice when I have to use my cell a lot and need more minutes).

Anywhere near Binghamton? My wife works at the Cider Mill Theatre up there and that area is of concern for us.

Sorry...no. I live near north of Saratoga Springs. It looks like there is service there, but I would try to talk to people in that exact area to make sure. The service map for our area is here: Upstate NY Cingular Service
