I got a first generation Ipod..the big thick one without the forward/play/reverse buttons surrouding the dial. Anyways a couple of days ago i went to listen to some tunes and much to my dismay it looked like all my tunes had been deleted some how...they just dont show up.

So i hook my Ipod to my computer and Musicmatch, my default mp3/Ipod program kicks in...no track titles show up on music match either but for some reason it still shows that I still have 8 gigs worth of stuff on it...

Anyone ever run into this problem and know of a fix?

ummmmmmmmm. no, I haven't heard of that happening. did you check apple forums? if its not a big deal (since the files aren't showing up anyway), update the firmware with the latest (do the full RESTORE instead of UPDATE). then re-upload your tunes.

You could also try a shareware app like iPod Rip or Podworks, which basically make the directories where music is stored on your iPod visible, and see if anything turns up that way. Good luck man!

WOW...how bitter am I? I bought a 20gb barely a month ago for $400, now they're $300 and have more features. I'm not too concerned about teh new features but man would I like the C-note back.

Technology marches ever forward.

ouch. yea that sucks. I've been burned by that before. A guy here at work had just bought a new 2ghz G5, only to have the new one come out about a week later. he had paid full retail for it!

well they probably had to change the photos after people complained that they thought the screen of the Gen3 models was blue and the body was black (remember the "night" looking shots..)

No i don’t remember but my ass would get all chapped if that happened, I am a PC guy but i still love the look of the old school apple font, and the white backlight. The ipod is a cultural phenomenon.
