You wouldn't be a very good politician if you couldn't dish it out (and take it) with the best of them. Where I'm from a good line in invective is admired in a politician.

Ineresting peice on NPR tody on how town hall meetings are getting ugly for the reps. Limbaugh and his ilk are having greater and greater influence on the idiots these days...

I agree with Westy. Wishful thinking on NPR. All these meetings are giving a forum to the fringe and making them seem more significant than they are. The protests outside are getting more airtime than the useful conversation inside.
Could be a Palin-like phenomenon. Even though the hard core Republicans mostly loved her, anyone who didn't drink the kool-aid was turned off by a woman whose infant was smarter than her campaigning in a national election.

This is pure craziness. Is this what we have to deal with now? These loudmouth republicans were the same people that printed up the "Sore/Loserman" bumper stickers in 2000, openly mocking the Gore/Lieberman campaign.

Their tactics certainly are working. A reasonably intelligent moderately liberal friend of mine thinks the Obama plan is a full on government ran single payer system. He is usually better informed on these things but the only coverage he is seeing the lunatics. Of course he works around a bunch of defense contractors who are usually a bunch of angry mouth breathers. He is probably getting hammered with their crap daily.
I'm certainly not in favor of all these inflamatory remarks, they do nothing to encourage a dialoge on the subject for sure. It's hard however when Senators like our own Blanche Lincoln make remarks that those who oppose health care reform are "un American".......where can the discussion go from there?

The guy next door at work routinely plays conservative talk radio loudly enough for me to hear it. Fvcking intolerable. I've made a habit of turning on some Bad Religion or similar whenever he gets the mouth breathers going.
