Apparently Canada does NOT in fact matter

Pardon the hearsay, but I saw this on CBC news the other day.

They polled some canadians, asking of their general knowledge of Canadian politics.

only 84% of those polled could name our current prime minister, (Paul Martin). Of THOSE people, only 77% of the 18-29 year olds could name Paul Martin as the prime minister.

Then, (as we have a parlimentary system), we have an opposition leader right? Only about 30% (if I recall correctly) of those polled were able to name him. And I'm embarassed to say that I'm in the 70%....I've no idea who he is.

And then of course, when asked, 97% of 'em could name GWB as the US president.

Rick Mercer must be cringing.

I did try to find a link to this, but I was was unable to locate one.

Martin hasn't been elected yet, that might be part of the problem.

On the other hand, it's hard not to notice Bush acting like a 2 year old baby with a gun on the diplomatic stage...that sort of stuff gets a lot of attention.

N Dakota.....there is some prime reale state....get it while itis hot!

On a sidenote there is a Town of Dahlen in N Dakota. Established about the same time my great great (one more great?) grandfather settled in north central MN. Distant relative? Don't know. Bet they wouldn't accept a check of mine there. :)

Justin Dahlen, 80
Goodridge - Justin Dahlen, 80, died on Thursday, May 15, l997 at Dakota-Heartland Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 20 at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Margie Hammer was the organist. Soloist, Grace Hammer, sang "Amazing Grace". Casketbearers were Allen Steenerson, Jerry Dahlen, Robert Paulson, John Lovly, Neil Liedberg and Ron Ouren. Honorary casketbearers were Carl Elg, Dr. David Brown, John Hoffamn, Ervin Iverson, Edwin Sjulestad, Albert Johnson, Palmer Paulson, Palmer Lovly and many other relatives and friends.

Justin Dahlen was born August 8, 1916 on the family farm in Reiner Township in Pennington County to John and Lottie (Johnson) Dahlen. He was baptized and confirmed at Ekelund Lutheran Church and attended school in Goodridge. Justin worked on the family farm and on other farms in the Goodridge area. On November 18, l939 he was united in marriage to Olga Amanda Rindahl in Goodridge. The couple farmed in Goodridge township until his retirement in l984. Justin drove school bus for 28 years and during the later years, served as transportation supervisor for the Goodridge School system. He also worked for the Pennington County Highway Department in the summers and was a Pennington County Deputy Sheriff for 12 years. Following retirement from farming and driving bus, he worked for local farmers and the Goodridge Co-op.

He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and the children at school. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to him.

He is survived by his wife, Olga of Goodridge; four sons, Galen and his wife Jane of Goodridge, Ronald and his wife Sandi of Seattle, WA<--(my parents), David and his wife Carol of Thief River Falls and James and special friend Sheryl of Goodridge; six grandchildren<--(one of them me!); four great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence of Thief River Falls; sister, Gena Fjeld of Thief River Falls; many nieces and nephews.

Justin was preceded in death by his parents, brother Elmer and six sisters, Clara Larson, Ethel Dahlen, Mayme Dahlen in infancy, Myrtle Ouren, Mayme Kulseth and Nina Stucy.
I was away at college when it happened. :( Man, real downer....I appologize. :o: Didn't get to go to his funeral....haven't even been back to see his grave. *sigh*

OK I am going back to work.

Let's see isn't quebec a providence, or is that just a city. Like here we have los angeles and los angeles county, is there a quebec city and a quebec providence?

Well yes there is, Quebec city, and the province of Quebec.

Like New-York State and New-York city!

BTW Their is a show called THIS HOUR AS 22 MINUTES on which they have a segment called Talking to Americains, pretty funny ****!

They have a buch of american tourist saying stuff like Congratulation Canada on getting electricity! :D
