I thought Maria Shriver had something relevant to say. She hosts an annual woman's conference, and women like Condi Rice and Bono spoke there.
She also invited Palin to speak while she was running for VP, and she refused. In response, Shriver commented that her father, who also ran for VP in 72, spoke with reporters everyday during the election run. She said that every candidate in history were questioned by reporters daily, and this is part of the vetting process.
Palin's handlers pushed her away from reporters at every opportunity. This isn't like Olbermann and Charlie Rose in the crowd, but the beat reporters who are assigned to a particular candidate and follow them everywhere.
Obama went on O'Reilly. McCain went on Letterman after he blew him off. I saw one interview with Biden when the reporter, whose husband is a Republican strategist, accused Obama of being a Marxist and wanted to know what Biden thought.
