...or is age the only criteria?

One could pretty easily convince an entire home or two of menally incapable folks to vote one way or another without much of a fight, no? Some free snack packs or capri suns could garner alot of votes. Anyone ever look into this?

Well, I'm not sure but I don't think they are alowed control of their bank accounts and that would mean no voting too.

Let me do it for you DRB...

If they can be president for 2 terms, I don't see why they cannot vote?
I wonder, seriously, if politicians have ever tried to take advantage of this. It wouldnt surprise me either way. Getting them registered and bussing them would be easier than actually campaigning to people who dont like/agree with you.

Hell, that strategy already works with old people.
...kind of where I was going with it all. At what point are humans to inept to make their own decisions? "The Good Ole Days" is both our best friend and worst enemy, IMO.

I dont actually think the "average" person gives that much of a rats ass about the gas prices. I know its a hot button issue, but hell, I dont make any real money and it doesnt kill me. The GOP is going to take a big hit this time around, me thinks.

It's not just raw gas prices at the pump, it's the TEMPORARY effect it has on the economy.

Gas prices are integral to just about every product's price.

And I do think too many people are sheep. Hell, the retarded would actually try to understand what the heck is going on. While 'retarded', they're not dumb and the honest questions they'd pose would be awesome.

As long as you're not a felon, you're good to go. I think there should be a short test before you are allowed to vote. But that's just my $.02

98th percentile on my SAT & all I got was this tin
I love how being a felon makes you no longer a citizen. Hey kid, you smoked a joint and it was your third strike? Guess what...no more voting for you!
That depends on the state:

http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Election_Reform/Felon_Disenfranchisement.html
Today, 48 states and the District of Columbia prohibit felons in prison from voting, and 33 states ban people on probation and/or parole as well. In 13 states a felony offense can result in the loss of voting rights even after the sentence has been completed, and often for life. Although these laws have been in place for many years, their impact is now greater than at any point in US history, given the six fold increase in the number of people entering the criminal justice system during the past three decades. Overall, some four million Americans-two percent of the adult population-cannot vote as a result of a felony conviction; the rate for African-American males is a staggering 13 percent.
This is because of the 14th amendment:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A9785-2004Aug17.html
The 14th Amendment permits states to deny the vote "for participation in rebellion, or other crime." And it can be argued that prisoners should not vote; after all, the purpose of prison is to deny freedom. But with ex-cons, the argument shifts.

Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
Well in North Korea they aren't (well no one is). But they do put them in camps.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/10/21/wnkorea121.xml

Well at least he doesn't kill them....

North Korea operates a rigorous system of eugenics that locks up those deemed subnormal, ranging from the disabled to dwarves, according to a UN report released yesterday.

A system of gulags is designed to ensure that those who do not conform to the state's designation of normal do not pass on their genes by having children.

"Those with disabilities are sent away from the capital city and particularly those with mental disability are detained in areas or camps known as 'Ward 49' with harsh and subhuman conditions," wrote Vitit Muntarbhorn, a Thai lawyer who is special rapporteur for human rights in North Korea. Evidence was gathered from defectors to South Korea.

The report said that dwarves are not allowed to reproduce and that they are rounded up and relocated. Marriages at the camps are permitted but having children is not.

Holy crap, North Korea better not invade Latin America. All them natives might be taken for dwarves and we might not read a line more from Alexis. ;) :)
