Just moved to the Winston-Salem area from Colorado. Hoping to still be able to ride some downhill. Are there any places to ride and race in this state? I heard Sugar Mt. opens in July but that's a long wait.

This is a huge year for DH in the South. Mosey on over to the South forum and read up. 
Most definitely. Looks like 4 DH races in the next couple of months in NC. 3 race series at Beech mountain.
Also, some friends and I are putting on the first ever DH race at Hawksnest ski resort in Seven Devils, NC. Seven Devils should be about 2 hours from Winston.
