Are we witnessing the death of the Democratic party?

First elected in 2004, Lipinski is something of an exotic species: a Democrat who opposes abortion and cast votes against both the Affordable Care Act and the DREAM Act, which sought to provide a pathway to citizenship for young undocumented immigrants.

He was the only Democrat to cosponsor the “First Amendment Defense Act,” which protects those who refuse services to same sex couples, and the only Illinois Democrat to support drug testing of those seeking unemployment benefits — a move that has at least some union leaders considering opposing his reelection.

This is my sympathy face.

And so it begins....

But nearly two months after Ms. Warren released the test results and drew hostile reactions from prominent tribal leaders, the lingering cloud over her likely presidential campaign has only darkened. Conservatives have continued to ridicule her. More worrisome to supporters of Ms. Warren’s presidential ambitions, she has yet to allay criticism from grass-roots progressive groups, liberal political operatives and other potential 2020 allies who complain that she put too much emphasis on the controversial field of racial science.

That seems bad. But I'm sure that if there is one thing Democrats and Republicans can agree on: It's "Lock up corrupt Democrats"
speaking of the democratic party and its current figurehead, put in place by actively muscling out the one democrats actually wanted

"we™" pay for and support this :)

The democrats are what they always have been since 1950: Shitty hard neoliberals who understand they need to throw a bone to the public every now and then. Fundamentally they represent corporations. They care 100% more about the shareholders of Ratheon than poor coloured folk. They literally support genocide because it makes already rich and powerful people even richer.

American people are a resource to be exploited by these ‘corporations who are people’ (fuck how bad a mistake was that, eh?) and luckily for us cis white males by the accidents of history we are in one of the higher strata of the social order, that last to be consumed. As I’m sure you’re aware, more and more of your population is being pressured, pushed closer to indentured servitude. Even the richest and most privileged of us are locked into a system that could squeeze everything from us in a moment if the circumstances changed just so.

Democracy has been comprehensively hacked by the ultra rich and corporations. It doesn’t work anymore to produce progress and a better life for everyone, and if that isn’t the point then what the fuck is?

Isn’t that now obvious? Science, the economy, technology, everything on the planet is too complicated for individuals to get close to understanding. So many of us are easily swayed by simplistic lies. Our media is a corporate construct entirely concerned with supporting the system and the capital class. Pedodon has just demonstrated that exquisitely to us all.

We’re rapidly heading towards an antihuman, antisocial, antiscientific age of a ‘might is right’ power-based society. Cyberpunk but without the cool nighclubs. It’s fucking terrible. Neoliberal Capitalism demands human sacrifice, for privileged white men not quite literally just yet, but actually for some, and already in terms of quality of life for billions around the world.

Democracy doesn’t work when people don’t understand reality. The issue is our reality is now too complex for virtually any individual to understand and our view of it is mediated by the very people who simply want to exploit us all. Consider their success: On election day there was spike in Google searches of ‘has joe biden stepped down?’.

Democracy is fundamentally broken. It’s time for something new if we want to actually prioritise human progress.

Killing corporate personhood would be a start. Prevent corporate acquisition.

Limiting corporate lifetime (to, say 25 years?) might help. Patents should expire after about the same time.

Eliminate marketing and advertisements.

Push news back into print. Eliminate TV and movies, hoping to get people into a real life.

Eliminate wealth.

Build the practice of mutual assistance.

We'd still fuck it up.
