It's not mutually exclusive.

$585 billion defense budget in 2016 vs $110 billion in Obama/ACA costs. Those are both big numbers, but one is clearly bigger.
Furthermore...if ChettoJeebus wants to cut taxes, which has a larger profile from whence to cut? Which gives a more tangible return on the investment?

Moscow now...gots stuff to do.

Cutting is double edged. Cutting military spending means less cash going to soldiers, engineers, suppliers, and all sorts of others up and down the food chain. Obviously, fat cats and bloated middlemen can handle some trimming, but if we cut their pay then how will those funds trickle down to the illegals washing their ///cars and shining their ///shoes?

Frankly, there's a part of me that supports the industry that shrinks the world population over the one that extends lifespans. Though, it's the nastiness of half killing people or half saving them that leaves me sick to stomach.

Let me stop you right there. Budget increases DO NOT go towards pay raises or benefits for Soldiers, Sailors Airmen or Marines...they go right into the already inflated coiffures of those who own the politicians. Pay and quality of life programs are the first things on the chopping block.

Oh, I'm sure that funding doesn't go proportionately to the people taking on the risk. I'm pointing out that spending does create a flow of cash, and cutting spending cuts that flow.

The War on Conservative Free Speech

The latest college cave to petulant student demands involves Ann Coulter and Berkeley, and the cancellation of the conservative firebrand’s speech over fears of violence.

Hey, Berkeley, how about sending out the cops to deal with the lawbreakers — rather than squelching the free speech of the innocent?

The Joes and Janes will spend every penny they get. That is why military installations are traditionally ringed with bars, strip clubs, pawn shops, WalMarts, tattoo parlors and used car dealers.

And now this. I paid into my initial GI Bill, $100 per month for a year, and received a paltry $4800 back. But you cannot put a carrot on a stick and then later remove said carrot or exchange it for a turnip. Or a turd.

That Truman stat is interesting. Do the significant 'steps' that drop downward correspond with world events, or just the timing of the actual polls?
Probably poll timing.
As technology and big data has progressed, it sure seems like the trend gets generally closer to 50% over time, which I'd expect. As candidates get better market research and feedback, I'd expect them to adjust their campaigns to maximize their base, which would ultimately get to a 50/50 vote split in a "two party" system. In turn, I'd expect approval to relate to and approximate the popular vote.

Well then, time to publish the phone numbers of all GOP Congressmen so they can receive thousands of the same delightful voicemails.

But the messages should auto play at max speaker volume announcing great new deals on sex toys and porn.

"I made a comment recently where I claimed that Republicans had been much more criminally corrupt over the last 50 plus years than Democrats. I was challenged to prove it. So I did a bit of research...it didn't take long and there is no comparison. When comparing criminal indictments of those serving in the executive branch of presidential administrations it's so lopsided as to be ridiculous. Yet all I ever hear is how corrupt the Democrats are.

Why don't we break it down by president and the numbers-

Obama - 8yrs in office. zero criminal indictments, zero convictions and zero prison sentences.

Bush, George W. - 8yrs in office. 16 criminal indictments. 16 convictions. 9 prison sentences.

Clinton - 8yrs in office. 2 criminal indictments. one conviction. one prison sentence. 8
+ yrs of investigations. tens of million$ spent and 30 yrs of claiming them the most corrupt ever and there was exactly 1 (one) person convicted of a crime.

Bush, George H. W. - 4yrs in office. one indictment. one conviction. one prison sentence.

Reagan - 8yrs in office. 26 criminal indictments. 16 convictions. 8 prison sentences.

Carter - 4yrs in office. one indictment. zero convictions and zero prison sentences.

Ford - 2 1/2 yrs in office. one indictment and one conviction. one prison sentence.

Nixon - 6yrs in office. 76 criminal indictments. 55 convictions. 15 prison sentences.

Johnson - 5yrs in office. zero indictments. zero convictions. zero prison sentences.

So, in the last 53 years Democrats have been in office for 25 of those years while Republicans held it for 28. in their 25 yrs in office Democrats had a total of three executive branch officials indicted with one conviction and one prison sentence. that's one whole executive branch official convicted of a crime in two and a half decades of Democrat leadership.

In the 28 yrs that Republicans have held office over the last 53 yrs they have had a total of(a drum roll would be more than appropriate), 120 criminal indictments of executive branch officials. 89 criminal convictions and 34 prison sentences handed down.

With everything going on with Trump and his people right now, it's a safe bet Republicans are gonna be padding their numbers a bit real soon.

So let's just go over the numbers one more time shall we?

Democrats had a total of three executive branch officials indicted with one conviction and one prison sentence.

120 indictments for Republicans. 89 convictions and 34 prison sentences. Republicans are, and have been for my entire lifetime, the most criminally corrupt party to hold the office of the presidency."

I don't follow when it says, "prison sentences" . who was sentenced to prison ?

Pretty good otherwise. But I'd like to see the references.
