I like him, but then again, I like DC United and am partial. I just don't see Team US's typical underachievement as his fault. We don't have the interest, tradition or confidence in European Football to do well in internationals as big as the World Cup at this stage.
DOH! I am over an hour late for Friday 4:20 here on the right coast. Gotta run...
I think that it's his time to go. I think his starting line-up was less than great and I also think the US needs a serious coach to get to the next level.
We need to invest in a coach from Europe or South America that has fire and can light that fire under the asses of the current squad. I don't think Bruce could motivate.
Its time for a change, but many don't realize what he accomplished. UVA, DC United and bringing the national team up to wold recognition. He is probably the best coach US soccer has had.
Yeah, they flopped. I honestly didn't like what I saw on the field. It just looked like the players didn't realize the level they were on. My opinion, get US players in Europe playing on 1st division clubs....I can't think of that many that ever have.....Harks, Renya, Keller.....anyone else?! Thats where things need to go. A good coach can mesh good players together, but there has to be the tallent pool to pull from. I don't think a new, magical coach is going to fix all of this.
Juergen Klinsmen would be a million times better then Arenas. He had the right idea of using Euro players but he did not understand when you are losing that defensive formations aren't going to win, especially when the lone striker up front is brian mcbride.
