Wow, this was the funniest/scariest survey I have ever taken! Here is the email, and here are some of the "feelings" questions they asked.

The Army National Guard is proud to be able to count on you. We are asking for a few minutes of your time to participate in a survey to help us understand what is most important to you and why. The information you give to us will be grouped with information from other Guard members most like you and will be used to help the Recruiting and Retention Division design better incentives and bonuses.

To thank you for your participation in this survey, you have an opportunity to win one of three prizes. Winners will be selected in a random drawing the second week of March 2008, and notified by email. You could win: a touch-screen GPS system, an 8-GB iPod Nano, or one of three (3) National Guard Backpacks.

The survey will end on Feb. 29th, 2008

Thank you for your help.

The scale was: Strongly Disagree, Somewhat Disagree, Somewhat Agree, and Strongly Agree

I am often interested in theories
I like outrageous people and things.
I like a lot of variety in my life.
I love to make things I can use every day.
I follow the latest trends and fashions.
Just as the Bible says, the world literally was created in six days.
I like being in charge of a group.I like to learn about art, culture, and history.
I often crave excitement.
I am really interested only in a few things.
I would rather make something than buy it.
I dress more fashionably than most people.
The federal government should encourage prayers in public schools.
I have more ability than most people.
I consider myself an intellectual.
I must admit that I like to show off.
I like trying new things.
I am very interested in how mechanical things, such as engines, work.
I like to dress in the latest fashions.
There is too much sex on television today.
I like to lead others.
I would like to spend a year or more in a foreign country.
I like a lot of excitement in my life.
I must admit that my interests are somewhat narrow and limited.
I like making things of wood, metal, or other such material.
I want to be considered fashionable.
A woman's life is fulfilled only if she can provide a happy home for her family.
I like the challenge of doing something I have never done before.
I like to learn about things even if they may never be of any use to me.
I like to make things with my hands.
I am always looking for a thrill.
I like doing things that are new and different.
I like to look through hardware or automotive stores.
I would like to understand more about how the universe works.
I like my life to be pretty much the same from week to week.

Wow, that was awesome.

BDUs are being phased out, wear out date is 2011. The new boots look ridiculous, but desert boots are authorized for the time being. New unis were designed for maintenance and admin troops. Army quit shining too...what will the shoe polish lobby do?

same thing the dry cleaners are doing, moving to airforce bases. the new uniforms are wash and air dry, no starch or pressing. the cleaning shops outside of fort lewis pretty much closed down and left, not enough trrops at mc chord to carry either. it cracks me up that there are still anal NCO's and Officers thats want you to go through one of the boot kits a week on your desert boots. the kit has a wire brush, a big eraser and some spray. doesnt do a bit of good if you are a combat unit.

I really don't think I'd fit in well in the army though.

I respond positively and unquestioningly to authority. 1

Looks to me they want to find out two things:

A: If you're a faggot.
B: If you love Jesus.

If you're Ted Haggard, of course, the answer is "Both".

I swear I will kill the first one of my troops that shows up with one of the new unis dry cleaned and starched. So far they mock me when I show up with a starched and pressed BDU..."Wash and wear Sarge, check it out..." "Go **** yourself rookie"
You can brush the **** out out of your desert boots and they will look fine...Scotch Guard them first and you will be ahead of the game.

You know, right now I am a bad NCO. There is no way I can even try to talk any of my young troops into re-enlisting. I have given all of them the Father Flanigan "Only you can decide whats right for you" speech. The guys I know are returning, sure. But the fence sitters, no way. I will give them the spiel if asked, but with the way things are going, there is no way I can, in good conscience, try to convince some of these kids to stick around. Some of these guys are staring down their 3rd major deployment in a 4 year enlistment, and there is talk of involuntary extensions right now.
The Guard and Reserve is really getting shat on, but we have already covered that one...

I had a tough time because I when I joined the National Guard, my unit was currently deployed to Iraq. This was in 2003 and it hadn't hit the fan at the level it is now, but they did get in it a little.

My job as an "Officer Candidate" was to convince the guys returning they should re-up. This was also the time when they said "Since you deployed this time, you are not up for rotation for 8 years".

Some did, some didn't. But what was bad was when you tell a bubba that he's home for at least 8 years, he signs for another 3-4, then the very next year he is ordered to Afghanistan.

I had no idea they were going to deploy again, but I still felt like an ass.
