Heading up to Ashland this weekend. Have the little lady and the dog, but have been given the clearance for some dirt miles. Any suggestions? Hopefully something easy-ish to get to, and not super long, i.e. 1-2 hours?

you could just climb up the fireroad to caterpillar and come down it. The beginners did that for Spring Thaw and I think it was around 1 hour.

Caterpillar is singletrack, but to get out of Lithia Park you'd ride up the fireroad. It's the easiest loop I can think of.

There are quite a few riding options 'round here, but directions and junction-turns are just about impossible to post-up.

Know that if i'm gonna do Caterpillar trail, i'll go ahead and do the extra climb, via fireroad, up to 4 corners , and do all single-track down ~ starting with "catwalk" first. followed by Toothpick, Caterpillar, and finally BTI. But there are other routes that with shorter easier fire-road-climbs and fun single-track downhills. Whatever.

If you, or anyone else, are headed down here in the future PM me ahead of time and i will see what i can do for you. i think PM is linked to my email address for notification of incoming.


i'd love to host Bend riders so that they can reciprocate in kind. i LOVE riding Bend area, but dont know many of the trails, and always end up riding the same ones over and over........

Sorry you missed it too. I ended up bringing the road bike actually, last-minute issues. I'll be back though, without the dog and with the MTB, so I'll hit you up for sure.

Ah, hasher is some running slang? I don't run, bad knee(s).

But road bike, hell yeah. I'm up to 3 or 4, including the TT bike. Just something about it. The older I get, the more into the road I get...
