Just wanted to remind everyone that you can obtain points in the Cane Creek Series by working on trails - Pay Dirt. The Brushy Mtn Cyclists Club (BMCC) is currently offering opportunities every Saturday until the end of April and then be offered once a month.
We typically meet at 8:45am and work until 12:30-1:00pm. In addition to gaining Pay Dirt points you we also learn first class trail cutting techinque. The trail system is located in Wilkesboro, NC at W Kerr Scot Dam and has been sited as on of the nicest in the region. For more information on upcoming trail days check out http://brushymtncyclists.tripod.com/. Check in the forum section.
If you are running for the series points championship then why risk lossing for not giving back through volunteering?
Here is the info from Cane Creek regarding Pay Dirt: This program was developed to get racers involved in trail maintenance & improvement. Individuals who work on approved trails during official workdays can earn race points. Up to 60 points can be earned per season. For each hour of trail work 6 pay dirt points will be awarded. These points have often made the difference between finish results in the series. We have changed the process of earning points to discourage folks from waiting to the last minute to earn points thus, to receive pay dirt points 5 hours of work must be earned by July 1st and the form turned in by July 10th. The remaining 5 hours must be done between July 1st & September 20th. All final forms must be mailed to: Pay Dirt Points c/o Liberty Bicycles, Inc. 1378 Hendersonville Hwy, Asheville, NC 28803, and received by September 30th to receive credit. Please do not ask for an extension. It is your responsibility to get paperwork in on time.
