We're kicking off the 2024 Secret Santa! Exchange gifts with other monkeys - from beer and snacks, to bike gear, to custom machined holiday decorations and tools by our more talented members, there's something for everyone.
I'll be racing, but it'd be worth grabbing a race reg just to ride perhaps? It's normally $28 a day, and will be $30 for the 2 days.
What bike you getting?
Echo: I rode it a few weeks ago. There is one super flowey trail that the race happens to be on (chrome). There is another north shorey type trail, one trail that is slightly tech but has NO flow whatsoever. The last trail is basically a XC course on a dirt road that doesn't really fit in.
The race trail is tight, but FULL of berms and little mini feature (1ft drops into fun little chutes so you end up going about 8 feet out and 2 feet down or so. It is SUPER flowy and really fun if you get over the front end and just pin it. It is pretty hard to go really fast on, and makes you have to really sprint hard out of corners and brake really late.
I will be racing it on flats I think for good times. Didn't enjoy it first on clips, but by the end of the day i was had it sorted out and was really enjoying it. Some of the berms are in weird places and at weird angles, so it takes a bit to get into. You REALLy have to let the rear end slide. Oh, and the dirt is loamy and radtastic.
I think the real question is whether you can incorporate your hella break dance style while racing your bike.
Racing with parachute pants and oversize shoelaces is a good start.
The 2006 summer riding season is almost over and also the first season of mountain biking in Mont-Blanc. The guys at Mont-Blanc will end their first season by throwing a party on the 7th and 8 of October.
Chrome-Fest will feature a cross-country race as well as a DH race, both sanctioned by the FQSC. In addition, a wall-ride contest and a dirt-jumping contest will be held as well. Finally a mini-race on the shore track at the base of the mountain will also be on schedule.
Every race winner will be racing for prize money and for the dirt-jump contest Mont-Blanc will be awarding out 3 Orkus passes.
