Ok, I'm rather stuck with my junk-computer. I have everything working properly except for the sound. I need an audio driver, however, when I go into the system, it doesn't find the driver, and I don't know what soundcard I have to download the driver. It's a Micron Millennia PC. That's about all I know. Anybody who actually knows something about computers (a.k.a. not me) know how to solve this?

If above method doesn't work - rt click my computer, select properties, go to device manager, find sound card in the tree (it will tell you the typ), click update drivers...if no drivers are found search the web.

I've tried that already, but it only says "PCI multimedia audio device", and when I do the whole search for/install drivers, it comes up with nothing and says "unknown device". The soundcard is part of the motherboard or something, the speaker/mic/input jacks are physically mounted to it. If I knew what motherboard I had, I could probably find the driver... any way to find out the exact motheroboard I have?

oh yeah, didn't think about the sound card being built into the mb.

No, that's not the one I have.
It has a celeron processor... dunno if that helps. Where would I find the serial number? somewhere on the case or on the MB?

my guess would be the case, since it's more likely the mother board is an OEM from china somewhere and will have a separate SN. If they have their ducks in a row they should be able to track from either.

Good Luck.

WOO HOO I have sound!

However, I have a new problem now. I've installed a program which uses dsound.dll, but "dsound.dll cannot start". Any idea what might be the problem with that?
