Avalanche MTN-3 ??

Anyone ever tired riding the Avalanche MTN-3 rear shock which for instance was found one the BMW Big Link and a couple of other bikes ? I wonder how it is compared to the normal DHS shock. I have seen it on the special Avalanche/Cortina frame which can be found on the Avy HP, - but I have no idea of how it persorms ?? Any knowlegde :confused:

The MTN series shocks are big... really big... check out the dimensions on the Avy site... They generally need a frame designed for them and are not meant for an aftermarket application. The Big Link and Avy-Cortina are such frames. The Avy Cortina has a number of differences between it and the standard DHE-8. I've spent a small amount of time on both bikes. Very smooth. Very solid. Very heavy.

Last I heard is that the MTN series is out of production and Avy needs a minimum order to build the shock again. As so, BMW needs a commited number of orders before they'll offer the Big Link again - I think the number is 5.

Thanks for the answer ! I am very interested to hear what you think about the Avy-Cortina frame !!! Did you like it ? Is it more race or huck ? Impression on riding the Avy MTN-3 ?
