Hi guys,

First post here although I've been checking the site for some time. I'm from Montreal and ride with the people of AllezY.

So here's where I need help. I am mounting Avid BB5 front brake on a Manitou Black 100-120mm (2003). I have removed the adapter as it's not needed. However, since I have bought those brake second hand I found that I am missing some concave and convex washers that allow the positioning system to be effective.

Do I really need those washers or can I just use plain ones without any future problems? If I need them, can they be ordered online?

Thanks,
Sylvain

Those washers aid in centering the calipers on the rotor. You're probably going to need them. I just looked at my BB7s and the washers look to be about the same size as the ones on the brake pad posts on v-brakes. Do you have any of those around that you could try to use?

They can be ordered online in the US. I'm assuming your bike shop can get them through the Canadian distributor. Here's the listing from the QBP catalog for what you need. I think "CPS" stands for Caliper Positioning System.

I have one set. I just checked and you are right. They look about the same. I'll try it out when I resume working on that bike. Thanks for the tip! :thumb:

That link may come handy at some point. I was not aware of that shop.

Cheers!
