So from what I can tell, I'm one of the very few monkies that have the juicy sevens. I used to have and love hayes brakes. From the first time I tested my juicies I was in shock and I would never again use hayes. The stopping power is CRAZY. Honestly I had to get used to it. It's all about one finger ( sh** you could use your pinky) stopping power. Yes you get all this stopping power with great feel (once your used to it). Also it is very easy to clean and replace pads (I have a pet peev about clean brakes). These brakes have made me a much faster and more controlled rider. Bottom line hayes are like drum brakes compared to the avids. :thumb:

i just tested it in a parking lot....
couldn't test the stoping power... but i notice that's have more modulation than the hayes!

Im 240ish and use the Juicy 7's now on my 5-spot with 6" rotors, and will soon run them on my DHR with 8" rotors. I love em. Hayes have always been good, i just really like the feel of the 7's. The adjustments are worth it. On mild XC i dial em in for a lighter touch, and if its real aggressive XC i dial em out for max power. Cant wait to give em a try on the DH runs.

They Rock, I think they shouold make the adjuster knob burlier, my first wreck it broke off, I found it in the dirt, it was still kinda together, cracked but whatever, so I slid it back on the adjustment still works.... I think they are like 25 bucks for two of em to replace it..

The first bike I set them up on for whatever reason they "gurgled" (pulsating as the pad slid across every whole on the rotor) I put hayes rotors on and the problem was gone...

Second bike using Avid rotors no problem (weird) I'm not gonna argue though.

The bleed kit is so nice also, it really works and is quite efficient.

The overall feel, adjustability, power, and modulation of this brake make it a no brainer in my opnion......

I've been riding this set since july without any problems, i.e. no cracked lines, no leaks, no loss of feel, pads seem to be lasting on par with any other brake I've tried.

I'll be ordering a set of the Juicy 5's (withouth the pad contact adjustment red star on the lever) to try out on my big bike.

Yeah I agree. That plastic red star pad adjuster should be made stronger. I've broke one off. No biggee, there is a solid metal nob, which the plastic star mounts to that I use to adjust with. Avid should just anodize that metal nob.

Why do you want to spend $450 to change a part that's working just fine?

Use the money on a plane ticket to someplace new and nice to ride instead. Or take a ski trip, or learn to SCUBA dive or something. Or find something on your bike that actually needs replacement...
