Ok, so lets say I have the 160mm set installed. I'm thinking if I buy the larger rotor, all I would need is a different mouting bracket, and I'd be up and running, no? If yes, where would I score this mounting bracket?

Thanks in advance!

Well, thanks to your help, I called Speedgoat, the adapter is $15 including shipping. Now I just gotta convince my wife that 8" is better than 6". You would think she'd already know.

In a pinch, you should also to be able to use Hayes adapters/rotors with the Avid stuff as well. You do, however, lose the ball-joint adjustability with the Hayes adapters.

You shouldn't really, I'd think the spacing for that was designed into the caliper, although it may have been designed into the adapter too. I am successfully using Hayes adapters with Avid calipers AND the CPS spacers, the alignment is perfect.

Good to know. I thought they had designed the extra space into the adapter and not the caliper. I wonder if the CPS spacer stack is enough to space a Hayes caliper out for a 185mm rotor?? My frame won't take an 8" out back but the 7" might fit.

I recently had to do something similar in a fix. The calipers are EXACTLY the same. the only difference is the adaptors. Think about it. All the adaptor does is move that calipers straight out away from the fork to accomodate the larger rotor.

you should be all set.

I recently used a rear mount on a front rock shok fork added a couple washers to space the caliper out and am using a Magura 190mm downhill rotor....way more power than a xc bike needs..what was I thinking,,Tim Toolman Style power:cool:

Try going to your LBS or REI or something like that for your adapter...I checked out SpeedGoat and they're incredibly expensive....I got my adapter from REI for 6.50 tax included.
