I realize there's already a few avid mech adapter questions out there, but mine's kinda different considering the disk brake mounts on my fork. I don't have the fork yet, it should be here monday.

I need to put an Avid mechanical caliper with a 185mm rotor on a '03 sherman firefly. What specific adapter am I going to need?

You may not need one if Manitou still uses the post mounts on the Sherman.

They do. But, would I need some sort of spacer to accomidate for the larger rotor?

Looks like you'll need a special mounting bracket for that. Contact Avid (avidbike.com) or your LBS.

The lady at SpeedGoat said I would need an adapter, but she didn't know which one.

I asked her how much it was... she said $15-$25

I'd tell her to ask someone who DOES know. The price may be accurate, some adapters can be that much. Compare with your LBS, or even Avid may be able to send you one for cheaper. Good luck.

I called Avid and they told me exactly what I need. Their MSRP on the adapter (185 post adapter) is $12.
