I've used a lot of different brands but have settled on Silkolene 7.5 wt motorcycle fork oil. Keep in mind this is for a Monster T, not a DHF 8 (you lucky bastard). I know Craig uses KYB fluid in his shocks, not sure about the forks though.
The shop I went to to get the oil asked what weight to use. They sell oil from 7wt-15wt.
I told them the oil was supposed to be 85/150 which they said would be very thick and to see what weight oil to use. Forgive my ignorance on this question, it's the first time I've been about to change the oil.
Would that be the same as 15wt ?
Sorry for the questions. The shop does MX suspension but the guy I spoke to said that the only stuff he has that is 85/150 was for gear cases or something.
Not sure what the equivelant "weight" oil would be I'm supposed to use.
So it seems. I'm new to the terminology myself but found the BTI listing for Golden Spectro shock Oil lists the 2.5wt(85/150) as "very light" and 7.5wt(125/150) as "light." Could explain why my Zoke is funky. The receipt for the oil I ordered and used shows 7.5wt, but I realize now that I was shipped 2.5wt. :wonky2:
I just recieved an email from Craig Seekins explaiing about the oil type used in cartridge forks. Straight weight oil can not be used in the DHF 8 forks.
I found an online retailer that sells the right oil.
Thanks for the answers folks.
