I have noticed some small cuts on the hose connecting the Avy shock and the resovior. I was wondering if anyone puts or wrap something around the hose to protect it or should I expect it to hold up just fine by itself ?

mine has some small cuts also (from crashes etc) but nothing too deep, and they havent gotten worse over time. The hose itself is pretty burly/stiff, and looks like it can take serious abuse. Craig is the best one to answer your question but I imagine you can get an opinion/replacement from a moto shop.
Is this the older steel braded line? He has new ones that sre completely covered with stainless steel fittings. I had my hose changed when I got my Army.
I did not know there were different types. Mine is the black one which has this kind of clear/shiny plastic coating ?! Is that the new one ?

All hoses are the same. Similar to Goodridge 600 series. Stailess braided PTFE hose. Som got a black vinyltubing over, some got a heatshrink tube. Some got brass fittings and some got stainless steel.
