$1900 fork and $775 shock w/ Ti spring. that's my best guess.

That is gonna be the sickest V1O around. Depending on what else you put on there, i bet it still comes in around 47+ pounds. that aint bad considering you have that quality of suspension.

are you gonna run a Hopey ? Im ordering my Hopey tomorrow. cant wait!

11.2 advertised weight.
Its more like 12.4. i haven't weighed it yet but i will.. The weight is only about 2 pounds heavier than my Shiver.
I'm guessing the total weight of the bike will be 45-46lbs.

This was actually a demo fork of Craigs so i got a killer deal on it. He rebuilt it and put new uppers, seals, and crowns on it. So its basically new. And i had to get the black guards for it. Normally with the triple pinch bolt lower crown the fork is like $1925, I think.

And to answer the Hope question, yes i bought some new Hope Mono M4's.

damn, i dont really like the look of the new v10's but that looks sick, i really like that color and the fork is badass, and the ti spring matches real well

So did you get the black guards from Avalanche, or did you acquire them from another source? Do please tell! I think they look miles better than the white ones. :)

the DHF uses fork guards off a Kawasaki kx85 so you should be able to find them in any color you want.

Wow! Those guards look the ****! Are they real carbon, or am I asking a bit too much? Are those your forks Joel? So what other colours can you get?

i would think that the motorcross aftermarket would have plenty of USA made carbon or colored fork guards. go to your local MX shop and see what they can get.

no that's not my fork. that's a guys from the UK off his BMW.

Hey, I just checked that site. Those aren't too bad at £70. Look the ****!

Joel: Are those forks you posted DHF Mts?

Call me a fool, but I just sat and wondered, having seen that on the Pro-Carbon site the guards shown (come to think of it, all the products shown) are for Honda 'CR'. So seeing that the picture Joel posted had Pro-Carbon guards on it I am about to assume that all 85cc dirtbikes have the same size dropouts and hence use the same sized guards etc. Is this correct? I am also assuming the Avalanche uses Kawasaki guards because they are perhaps better than other stock 85cc dirtbike guards, NOT because they are the only ones that'll fit Avalanche forks. Correct?

They are UFO guards for a KX80. The shock was designed for these guards. Its a Parts Unlimited part. Make sure you specify black when ordering at your local dealer. They are $32.

Ohh reet. That's pretty cheap. So do kx80/85 use the same guards?

Does anyone know any other carbon (or plastic) fork guard MX brands? I want the best!

Cheers Joel.
To the starter of this thread: Why did you chose the Avalanche shock with the separate reservoir as opposed to the new Avalanche piggy? Just curious.

Thanks for your help.

Comparing the piggy-back and the remote resevoir, does they contain the same amount of oil ? On the pictures it looks like the piggy-back is somewhat smaller....does that have any effect on the shock ?? Just wondering ...

He also makes one with the larger reservoir, I believe the same size as the remote one..

The Piggyback shocks all have the same Nitrogen volume, this insures that they all react the same to the shaft displacement of oil. The DHS and Woodie use a rubber bladder to seperate the oil from the nitrogen and the Chubie (Chubbie as some like to spell it, we just wanted to keep the same number of letters as Woodie and to avoid any Trademark/copyright issues) uses a floating piston to separate the oil from the nitrogen. The advantage of the bladder is an instantaneous response to oil flow without any resistance, ie the potential friction associated with the floating piston o-ring and guide ring. The advantage of the floating piston is a more compact design and the ability to set the height of the piston lower. This will cause an increased ramp up of pressure in the reservoir allowing for a more progressive feel for linear linkage designs. Also the slight resistance provided by the floating piston reduces pedal bob.

Would that mean that if the Chubie can fit the Karpiel (if the rear swinger does not touch the shocj under full compression) it is actually more suitable since the Karpiel is quite linear in its travel ?? Maybe it would also help to prevent bottoming out or......??

I already had it on my 2003 V10. When i bought it last summer they had not come out with the Woodie yet.. I wish i could afford to purchase the Woodie instead.

As Craig explained, the shock shown in the picture is actually the Chubie. BUT, yes the Woodie fits as well. The oil bladder is the same size bladder that is used in the DHS. And as Craig explained to me, it uses the same Nitrogen volume, which is important..
