Granted some of the issue with the wind might be with the uplift, but I'm kind of surprised they don't just tape off and go around the large gaps - there's only two on this course right?

They've taped off the one where there were crashes yesterday. Saw reports that there were 90 kph wind gusts earlier which is just not going to be possible to race with. Seems like they've done a decent job of getting a race in given the weather, though we'll have to see how things go for the men's race.
