Axel to Crown height of forks?

I'm looking at new forks for possibly my new frame(Brodie Demon, 7.6" of travel). I'm considering a Marzocchi Z150(538mm height), Manitou Stance Flow(532 mm) and Manitou Kingpin(540mm). While I know a singlecrown will look kinda odd, I'm still considering it. My question is, if I were to decide between teh Flow and the Kingpin, there 8mm of height difference:

Is this
a) noticeable on the bike?(for freeriding mainly, some DH)
b) can I compensate it by sticking a spacer under the stem?

thanks

a) depends on how sensitive you are
b) you can get the same handlebar height, but the geometry will be changed. going to a zero stack headset if your frame allows for it might allow you to get the geometry to revert to "normal"

Sticking a spacer under the stem will only raise your stem and handlebar. The height difference of the Kingpin will slacken the headtube angle out a bit more than the flow.

but hardly anything in this case, you're dealing with an 8mm spread, i don't think you'd notice the difference in this case. I think it'll take closer to a whole centimeter to notice anything with that kind of fork length and chopper headangle.

especially when it can be compensated for with sag quite easily

8mm likely won't be noticable, and if it is, you'll get used to it within a ride or two. It's a pretty insignificant difference.

While we're on the subject, does anyone know the a-c on the fox 36?
I keep reading that the 888 is a tall fork, how tall exactly?

Fox has the tech specs up on their site. Check under manuals. 170mm 888 is 575mm A/C and the 200mm is 605mm.
