Going to give these a try. Plus I am taking along stuff from the market that I know is edible.

When you are out in Katmai National Park with bears around you, these are quite good. There are some tasty flavors and some pretty bland ones.

In the bathroom, fighting a battle
Even car camping I've taken to carrying those little Via packets, just so much easier than my percolator. Though I have one of these,https://www.rei.com/product/884333/gsi-outdoors-commuter-java-press?CAWELAID=120217890000757586&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=15724606000&CATCI=aud-54816614184:pla-352088253334&cm_mmc=PLA_Google|404_97344|8843330003|none|5163e61a-3d95-4cbb-8c2d-e1bd4707655f|aud-54816614184:pla-352088253334&lsft=cm_mmc:PLA_Google_LIA|404_97344|8843330003|none|5163e61a-3d95-4cbb-8c2d-e1bd4707655f|aud-54816614184:pla-352088253334&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI04Cwvs__1QIVUIF-Ch1bRQ47EAQYAiABEgLJb_D_BwE and it's pretty neat, but a pain in the testicles to clean.

The Mountain House breakfasts are actually pretty good if you install some hot sauce, like the Via sticks, I've started taking them car camping because I never feel like cooking an actual breakfast. Boil water, make coffee, make an MH breakfast, crumple up the waste and throw it in the trash bag, done. If I'm feeling fancy I'll dump the contents into a tortilla and add a little cheese.

For Mountain House entrees, stick with things that should be loose and saucy, I've had a few entrees that just flat out sucked, but anything noodle or rice based has been pretty good.

For backpacking, and riding, I've started carrying nuts and beef jerky sticks, and string cheese. I get the fancy jerky sticks, and they're pretty tasty without being full of random bullshit, and have a good protein to flavor ratio unlike protein bars. What they lack in calories, I make up for with nuts, and usually have some string cheese stashed too. Like the jerky, string cheese is sweet because it comes individually packed in easy to pack-out wrappers, and it's long slender shape fits basically anywhere in a pack. If it's just an over nighter or even 2 nights, I don't even bother with Mountain house, just carry a bunch of jerky, cheese, nuts, a flask and some flavorful drink tabs. This also allows me to leave a ton of weight out of my pack.

Those little individual peanut butter packets are sweet too, lots of calories in an easy to pack pouch. PB is a bit hard to eat without a celery stick or something similar, and while I love a good peanut butter tortilla, most people can't stand them.
