We're kicking off the 2024 Secret Santa! Exchange gifts with other monkeys - from beer and snacks, to bike gear, to custom machined holiday decorations and tools by our more talented members, there's something for everyone.
No, HR will be out smoking it up while writing some more schizophrenic/homophobic lyrics...HA! Actually I love the ROIR Sessions, still have the cassette.
Man, The Youth are Getting Restless and Quickness were among my college staples. Because of the whole "Banned in D.C." thing, I never saw them live but have enjoyed groups like Fishbone and Living Colour, who cited them as influences. Too bad H.R. and Dr. Know could not stick to the true rasta/ital dietary and sacramental restrictions.
I saw them play maybe 5-6 years ago (maybe more?) under the name "Soul Brains" at Toads Place in CT - something about Madonna screwing them or something so they had to play under a different name. I forget the whole story.
But they sounded good, started strong and rocking... then the second half of their set they went into an all reggae mode. Which, for me at least, was kind of dull
