kick ass avy macko, i've had two of them, and they couldn't be better dogs. sluggo was a half black/half white face, with a black patch on the white side. i found him as a pup, and had to put him down at 16 years old.

ridetoofast, you are about the last guy (other than maybe Zark or SK6) who i would guess as a Pinback fan. my oldest son (now 6) totally digs 'em. they are coming around soon, and i might go...i first got hooked w the "Some Voices" ep and like all i've heard.

i am in a total John Zorn/Marc Ribot zone right now...2 weeks ago i found a french documentary on Ribot which was great, and the other day i bought a 3 cd set of the Bar Kokhba Sextet _50th birthday party_ set @ Tonic from '03...totally great stuff. zorn is all over the place, but when he is on, no one can touch him. none.

i am seriously considering going to NYC for the Electric Masada show this Sept 10th...anyone want to split a hotel room?

for a while i was listening to launch cast a lot on yahell, and as i heard a band that i liked, i made a list.

honestly it was the story of my life, dumb luck, i simply stumbled across them, and then looked them up on limewire.

the funny thing is, i can go from them...totally mellow, to old pantera (5 minutes alone, a good friend and a bottle of pills, etc) and just completely dig them both.

i just can't do rap though.

i've only got a few of their songs now, but i will definitely get some more.

you ever hear of a band called morphine? i didn't list them because i listen to them almost obsessively so they don't really count, i was just interested/curious in 'new' interests that peeps might have.

Umphrey's is great!

Ween is on my mind since I get to see them tomorrow night.

Other than that, too many to even begin, I'm a total music junky with way more tunes than I can handle

joey baron is an insanely good drummer...the best ever, i've seen anyway.

there was a recent release as Electric Masada that's so great i nearly swooned. yep, swooned. i'd only heard the quartet prior, but recently aslo got "Masada Rock" and "Masada Guitars". marc ribot is a top 5 guitar player of mine no question. i love his sound.

for me it's 99%...i've got the ok from the wife, and i'm convinced that ribot is just not gonna play boston, so i have to get to NYC (or select european cities) to see him. having him play as part of Electric Masada is such a treat i nearly swooned again just thinking about it.

i need a chair.

i think they just reissued _Gas, Food and Lodging_.

funny, i was very close to posting Chuck's "Scarecrow" as a Song of the Day selection.
He's a great guy. One of those guys who always has a story and is very good at telling them. He needs to hit the big time so I can sell all of these family pictures and make some bucks!

nice! do you know any of the other guys tangentially related to that scene (ie, Naked Prey, Giant Sand, etc)?
Nope. We see Chuck and Stephanie on holidays or the rare vacation where that side of the family gets together.

We did get to see him play under tiki torches on the beach on Maui one time when he was over there to play a set at a program director/music picker convention. There were about 30 people total and the atmosphere, in contrast to a typical club, was amazing.

I am diggin' pretty much all of the same bands I always have liked. I don't really like most new music so I don't discover my new favorite band every week like a lot of people. I've been listening to a lot of Howlin' Wolf lately though in particular.
