so I have wanted to get a serious bike for awhile now and instead of going for the full bike option, I have decided to buy my first mountain bike in parts and build it

all I need before I start buying is someone to give me the okay that my parts list will work.
here is the complete list of parts that will go into my banshee morphine:
old banshee morphine frame: $300
truvativ XR bottom bracket 09 $37.98
Avid BB7 front + rear disc brakes 203mm $103.87
avid speed dial 7 levers $19.98
delta PTFE cable set (mountain) $26.98
shimano SLX HG61 cassette $55
truvativ blaze 3.1 2009 cranks set $69
wipperman connex chain steel $39.98
sram rival front derailuer $45
sram x.7 rear derailuer $63
rockshox dart 2 suspension fork 2008 $79
sette duo 25.4mm riser bar $22.98
sette stumpy stem $25
sette type H lockon grips white $10
atomlab GI pedals white $35
titec el norte seatpost $35
sette rev saddle $14.98
sram trigger shifters 9-speed 2008 $34
FSA pig headset $22
maddux explorer disc wheelset $170

total cost of bike: $1,208.59

now I kindof expect to get some people saying that I shouldnt build my first bike. I could understand this point of view. I also can understand that I love projects and wouldnt feel very fulfilled if I just bought something off a rack.

-thanks

i'd change a couple things, but mainly to save money. you will be fine without 8" brakes. unless you plan to be doing some serious downhilling, 6" rotors will stop you. i'd go with an all sram drivetrain too. the x7/700 series is plenty solid. i'd also go with raceface cranks. i've had bad experiences with lower-end truvativ stuff. it looks like you're checking pricepoint for this stuff so look into it. you can save some dollars and get yourself a better fork! the better your hands can work, the better the ride. good luck!
