Hi there. I am currently looking at getting a new frame, and have a few questions about the Banshee  Scream:

Shock options: I have the choice of either a 5th element or a fox rc pro pedal. What would you get, and why? The fox equipped frame is some $370 less.

Size options: I´m 184 cm/6' 1" and would like to hear your oppinion about what size to get. I currently ride a medium bullit.

Thanks for your help!

Medium. I just got my gf a small and holy huge batman. At 6'5 I could actually ride the bike as is (it would be a touch small but still) The sizing of these bikes is MASSIVE.

I like fox. But I don't race (also not picky about how suspension feels) and am a cheapskate.

Defenitly a medium. I'm 5'10 and rode a friends large around at a race, F'in thing was HUGE, i think even if i was 3in taller i'd have a hard time bailing off the bike. I'd go with the fox, the 5th is great but i like the "alive" feel off the fox, as to the dead feel of the 5th. If the fox has propedal and it does what its supposed to then you wont be loosing the pedal efficiency of the 5th. The bikes very nice, i like mine alot.

ill comment on the 5th/fox issue, 4 locals have screams, each got them with the 5th, with in a week all blew up their 5ths, and have been on foxes for quite a while now with no issues

well i guess im the only one who puts his vote on the fifth. but if its available go with the dhx from fox that blows both of them out the water. and the only down side i hear about screams is that there heavy bikes but for racing you should be fine or shuttle runs. :thumb:

I have to reajust my hight... i´m still 184, but that is more like 6' than 6'1"...

Do you think that a large is too much of a beast to controll. The thing is that I would like to have a stable bike, but still be able to point it where I want to go.

Any thoughts on that one? :help:

I am 6' on the dot, and weight 200 lbs. I have a medium scream with shiver dual crown, 24" rear wheel. I like the medium, but I prefer a smaller bike. At 6' you are right on the line between medium and large. For pedaling up hills the large would be a bit easier and the telescoping seatpost wouldn't have to be put up so out-of-ballance high. However, I love my medium because I can allways get the front end up, even on slow speed drops when I get my timing wrong  Also, with the medium I feel more control in the air with the bike. That said, I have ridden my friend's large, that is built lighter with a junior T, and for pedaling around, especially with the seat up, the large cockpit feels more comfortable.

As far as shocks, I ordered mine without a shock, Banshee took the shock price out of my retail cost. Those guys rock! I ordered an Avalanche and it has been the best thing ever. While I only have short rides experience on banshees with older Fox and Progressive 5th element shocks, I like the Avalanche WAY more, you do have to get it serviced annually though. The Avalanche has very little pedal bob, but is active everywhere I want it to be, and NEVER bottoms out harshly.

You *should* have any shock serviced annually. The cool thing about the Avalanche is that any MotoX shop can do the service, as long as they're not re-valving it. This way, you don't have to mail the shock back to Fox or Manitou or whatever.

For a Banshee, I'd get the Avalanche, just for the leverage ratio on that frame.

I went from a medium Bullit to a medium Banshee, and it felt damn near the same to me.

As for the 5th or Fox. Hmmm...I had a 5th amd had 0 problems with it. I also have a 5th on my SLX, and once again...no problems. BUt I prefer the livlier feel of the Fox's myself fo FR and DH, but like the 5th for a trail bike.

And as someone posted, you can get it with no shock and get an Avy. Personally, that's what I would do if I had the money.

Get the frame without a shock as mentioned above, find a cheap old fox and then send it to Push Industries. I just sent mine to Push yesterday so I haven't ridden it yet, but I have only heard good things.

got the HUGE scream with a 5th. i weight 230 lbs so i gotta use the 7" travel position :mumble: but still feels great. kinda wish i got the fox so i could have a harder spring but ive ramped the compression up a lot so it feels good now. may switch for a fox or avy if the 5th blows up a lot
