One key to creating more access for us, is showing the powers that be, there is a need. That means increasing the vibe, showing we have the numbers to deserve attention, and space, from the park districts etc.

One way, is a big event, a race.

BTCEB (east bay activist group that helps open trails, and fights to keep the ones we have open) was very interested in my idea to put on a race in the east bay.

Now, as you know, east bay all we have to work with is fireroads mainly, and I have a spot in mind. In Antioch, contra loma park/Black diamond mines there is a great, long ridge line downhill.

Boring yes.... but racing in heats of 4 at a time?

What are your thoughts of such a style of race? Are any of you familiar with black diamond mines park?

Anyone have a XC bike and some lycra (joking) want to come out and recon with me. I have very limited experience in the dh world, so I defer to you experts who race, live it and love it.

I'm totally in for racing 4 wide down a fireroad. I'm a little far away to help with recon, but if there's a race, I'm there.

Beavers- if this goes down, you have to get your roomate's lazy butt on a bike!
