Here's a nice thing:

Medians:

Oakland
Income - $47,898
Home price - $450,781

Detroit
Income - $32,272
Home price - $126,389

Oakland is the 4th most dangerous city in the US after Detroit, St. Louis and Flint. The median home price is almost 4 times as much as Detroit though.

$450k in Oakland gets you a home in a suck-ass neighborhood too. Any house in an ok neighborhood would be $600k or more.

Glad I moved.

Visiting Oakland can be either being in heaven or hell. I do majority of my riding in Oakland parks and stopping for a meal nearby can be very very expensive. I also can leave my bike without much worry (but still locked).

Of course, I could travel a few more miles into the worst sections of Oakland. I have ridden thru there as well.
