I have a 2008 transition bottlerocket, I was wondering if anyone has pulled bearings out of the swing arm without a press? i got two out with some penetrating oil, a 19mm socket, and a dead blow hammer :thumb:

Do you have a vice? That's about a million times better than using a hammer.

Just out of curiosity, pulling a bearing, doesn't it not come out imperfect anyway? If that is the case, would using a socket and a socket extender and tapping at it very lightly gently shimmying it out be bad?

And if it's a frame bearing, wouldn't you loosen a bolt that tightens the bearing to the frame making where it's seated looser and thereby not too damaging to remove this way?

Or two sockets, one that fits inside the hole in the frame for the bearing and against the bearing, one bigger socket on the side the bearing is going that has an inside diameter just larger than the outside diameter of the bearing and sits against the frame with a long bolt and nut to go through the whole shebang and Bob's your uncle.

you could always make a bering press/ removal tool, all thread, and lots of different size washers. I have a few that I have made over the years. I recommend this over the hammer method, because even if you are careful sometimes you can bend the frame.
