Pure SICK!!!!

I normally will send just about any jump, but that last jump was bucking me way bad!!!! To steep of a take off for the speed we were hitting it with. I wasn't going to take the risk!!! My hats off to those that did take the risk!!!!!

I am currently sorting through the results to break down the age categories. During registration there racers category was not properly recorded, but it will be sorted so that everyones qualification is appropriate.
Also what about some of the results that don't have the norba license # listed next to it? I assume its because I bought it the day before and had to put "Pending" in as my license when registering online.

i tried sending it once and since it was my last run of practice i wanted to get loose and try to style everything. came into a near inverted moto whip and didnt quite have the boost to clear it. i nose cased it by just a few inches which when i rolled down the lander casued my front to wash out and slammed down on my hip rather hard. needless to say i never tried it again.. slacking out the take off would make it a much more friendly jump that i would love to hit

I reminded myself that I am not 19, nor can I jump well and elected to just hammer through it like it wasn't there.

Will, however, wins the award for most mega/uber/gnar huck to crush upright rolling almost wreck of the day on that bad boy.:D

I totally forgot to leave my feedback like Chris requested but it would have been ALL positive anyway. I really think that was the best race I've ever participated in.

One idea I'd love to present to the trail builders for their consideration...I think if the lip of that last table were a little flatter, it would probably make for better spectating just because more people would be able to clear it.

Congrats to my neighbor Will placing first!
Thanks Matt! I had a blast out there for sure. I have to give a huge THANK YOU to Andy DeVault for lending me his bike for the race. Took me a couple laps to get it under control, but it felt great after that. He also let me keep it until the Championships so I can get some practice in on it. Cant thank him enough for that. He is my official Sponsor for the Championships!

Where are those Joe Haley pics hitting the pro section!?

I looked on USA cycling and the age group for Cat 1 are still just 19 to 39. Are they hopefully going to be broken down further? like 35 to 39 would be good. Then I could qualify and be able to race again.

There's a qualified riders list if you dig deep although I'm guessing it will take a few days to get updated. Best I can figure, I qualified but am not listed yet.

The qualified list for cat 1 35 to 39 is updated. Not on it though. It looks to me like they did not split out age cats on the results...

15-18
19-29

Does anyone know if the nats are gonna have the age split up the way the qualifiers were or like it is on the links I posted?

I finished 6th in Cat1 19-39 and I see riders that finished 11th & 12th that are on the qualifier list from Beech Mtn race that would be in my age group 35-39 class...
What i was trying to say was if they broke out our age classes at the race instead of doing 19-39 everyone would have qualified...not too fair putting us all together. I got 19th but if we were broken up I would have gotten 4th or something. You have to be in the top 15. I just want to ride there again this year. Called USA cycling to clean this up. I hope.

It looks like the riders in Cat 2 and 3 who didn't buy annual licenses aren't listed on the qualifiers list. Maybe that's just being processed? I dunno but that seems to be the consistent factor.

If you don't have an annual license and just got the one day then you cannot race national finals. I bought the annual so i could hopefully qualify and get to race twice. Not happening if they do not break out the race ages like they should. It was for sure fun and lots of good peeps there...

The USA Cycling rep mentioned at reg before the DS on Sunday that if you qualify on a one day, you'll need to buy an annual license and then have USA Cycling connect your qualifying result to it. Otherwise they don't have a way to link the rider to the result. You also had the option of filling out paperwork for annual license on qualifying day and they would link your results together.

If anyone who bought the one day license wants to race finals, just finish paying the rest of the annual license fee. USAC used to apply any money from 1 day licenses during the season toward your total. So if you bought 3 one day licenses at $5 each, you'd only have to pay an additional $45 with your paid receipts. :thumb:

Bummer that cat2 races Friday. Kinda ridiculous to force us to pay for a license that we'll hardly use.
We all knew this day would come months ago. We should have all ponied up, slapped on the spandex and terrorized some XC races by pushing the climbs and sending it off the steep stuff (take the inside line away) to get the most out of the license.

But hey, I paid because next year I get to rag doll a friggin' NC bike park with 4 up DH racks!!! :rockout:

Did you have mud spikes on? The lip is not really steep at all, its just a big ole tabletop.

That tabletop is a skill jump. IMO, a jump is not too lippy if you can hit it at full speed and stay low and that is what I was doing. You can't have a super mellow lip and expect to clear 35 feet on a jump that size. To clear it, you had to boost it and that is where the risk/skill comes in.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who came out to the race.

I realize we have a long way to go, but we are trying and appreciate all the positive feedback.

This is a new endeavor for our resort staff, and frankly a little scary, when you come from a predominately ski background. It is a large investment, when you are unsure of the return, but this weekend proved that people are excited about the mountain. This event gave us the opportunity to test the tray system and work out some of the kinks before nationals.

A lot of you don't know me, as I am not on the hill on the bike, but I have been pushing my staff and the town to embrace MTB. I wanted to let everyone know that our staff and management was very excited after the event.

Some of the comments I hear:
"wow, I wish skiers were this nice"
"everyone says thank you, I don't hear that much in the winter"
"this really is something"
"I wouldn't mind working more weekends, if people are this nice"

So, I just wanted everyone to know that we really we have something special and we are going to capitalize on it. It means a lot all the thank you, even to the guys running the lifts. It goes a long way. The town and resort are very appreciative, and though we are moving into this slow, we hope to improve and make it better.

A big thanks to herndon, mike, and danny, because we would be nowhere without their wisdom and hard work..

My email is tfreeman@skibeech.com, if anyone has any questions or comments...

Thanks Again,
Talia Freeman

Having a 38 year old motor running on an empty tank in the 50 feet of sprint leading up doesn't help either.:D

Hmmm, I'm missing from your list. I was bad Sunday, but I was there at least! A mix up with Randy Arnold maybe? - as I was #230, running Cat 2 19-39.
