Don't manage that many people but it's not easy for sure but I have hired the staff myself so that helps. I did not have anybody but my wife in the office before last year and its been a big transition with 4 new employees to manage. One thing I learned is you do need to be assertive and establish yourself as the manager.
I own a business and have 20 people that work under/for me. Dealing with staff has definitely been the biggest challenge I've had to deal with over the past 4 years.
Like the time my very important sales rep decided to up and quit while I was on my honeymoon in Argentina last fall. You can only imagine trying to worry about your livelyhood while being in another hemisphere.
