I visited the Bellingham DJs the other day and was surprised at the condition they were in. Overall they were in very poor condition. Seems like a lot of people on this board where very excited to see them built, but by the looks of them no one puts any time maintaining them.
A few of us spent over an hour trying to get one of the lines running properly. The transitions are rough and pot holed, the pits are not draining, and basically all the jumps just need some general manicuring. Nothing that a little work couldn't fix. My question is: Does someone actually spend time maintaining them?
I am sure people are going to take this the wrong way, but the jumps in that condition make mountain bikers look bad. Let me put it this way, even illegal jumps are in better condition than those. It just confuses me to see people squandering the oppurtunity the city gave mountain bikers. Not many cities have legal dirt jumps, especially in this area. It would be nice to use the Bellingham DJs as a model for other cities to follow. But honestly in the disrepair they are in it would be an embarrassment.
