Ok my boxxer race is bent on the lowers somewere. I have heardf of people bending them back even multiple times. I AM NOT buying new lowers for this pos fork, especialy after the 150 dollor rebuild when I blew the compresion and rebound. My question, Should I ride with the lowers bent, or do I just bend them back? If so how would I go about doing this?

lots of heat lol. if you do good luck. ohh and if you heat it up keep in mid the rubber seals and how it just happens to weaken the stregth of the metal. SO DONT HEAT IT UP. good luck

Yeah, 03 monster, anothere POS IMO. I don't want to bash the fork too much, as it tromples to death out of anything you ride over, but the thing's adjustments do absolutely nothing. I even had it revalved at Marzocchi and it came back as useless as before. I just about bottomed the thing several times too, but that was dropping to flat. Overall a good fork, but lacks adjustability. I'm done with DC forks anyhow, the riding I do (lame asss) doesn't warrant one for me.

thats what oil weight and height adjustments are for....you cant xpect it to work right for you right out of the box....

still think you should apply some heat to it that solves everything that involves metal. lol :stosh:

or you could just buy a marzocchi shiver or 888 and that would be a just upgrade. :thumb:

I don't know...Shawinigan had the same problem with his. I remeber screwing with his bike cranking down all the adjusters and nothing happened. He had to get it sent out to get it worked on.

still, bottoming out is usually an oil height problem.

maybe the ShiverMX carts arent suited for lighter valving maybe? i dunno, its proven MX stuff, so i doubt its a design issue.

I have the same problem. I need to get it fixxed! Does anyone have any idea what it would cost to get "just the lowers"?
yeah 250 or some crazy number like that, thats how much I paid for the freaky fork.

I ran 15 wt in the rebound side to get that to work. And it helped a little...

I actually bent mine back tonight. Process: Pull lowers w/uppers out of the triple clamps, find old crappy QR20 axle, a 3" vice, and a 2X4. slid axle through drop outs but dont tighten pinch bolts. clamp axle in the vice. go at it with the 2X4 --> but dont use the 2X4 on the upper stancions, bend till straight. This works better with two people. I also drained the sewage and replaced it with the finest spectro 10W fork oil, the things feel better than new, but still.......

I had that same problem (bent lowers/brake arch) three times in 2003.
replaced them each time but still it sucked and it got expensive.
once I crashed pretty lightly and I looked down and my brake arch was 3 inches to the left. I raced on it bent once and boy did that suck.
BTW you can't hold a line with bent lowers. Bike drifts like crazy.
I attributed the bending problem to the enormous XL drop crown I was running so I could slacken the bike out.
Seems it allowed for the lowers to flex too much.
I believe this because when I put a Romic crown on I no problems for the rest of the season despite some crashes.

The best solution was to get an 888.
now I have a fork that can easily last 3 seasons.

The 888 is what I call 'an investment'.
