Umm, he could go off with a little a drag parachute behind him to slow him down and help him stay stable in the air.Urban FR'er 666 said:You must be an: "(insert propper word here)"!!! 100 foot is nowhere neer enough time for a parachute to open!!!

see the 7th picture down. Bender is gonna try a 100ft drop, probably reach a max speed of around 50mph, so yeah just tossing it out there
And I've heard from other folks that rode with him, that said he's fast as hell, very very skilled, and a super nice guy with tons of enthusiasm.hilldown said:This sounds lame I know, but a freind of mine used to ride with Bender and Thor Wixom's crew. I know I spelled Wixom wrong, anyway he said Benders skill was only in riding off something.
Last week. I was getting chased out of desolation wilderness by a forest service ninja. He threw a poison alligator tipped star at my front tire which exploded (from the poison) and I had to manny off this hella sick butte. Thanks to modern long travel single fork technology, I was able to barspin before I landed.ohio said:When was the last time you needed to manual off a cliff?

The problems with landing hits on a moto vs. a bicycle:TheInedibleHulk said:I cant believe Im joining in this thread but... look at the sh1t that can be landed on a moto.
Good point. Seriously, the sport of mountain biking needs this. I don't really give two ****s what lycra wearing XC guys say, you don't attract youth into this sport. You don't make this sport impressive. Kids see moto guys flying 90 feet and pulling off insane stunts, it's cool right? They see mountain bikers pedaling up a hill going 5 mph, not so great eh?TheInedibleHulk said:I cant believe Im joining in this thread but... look at the sh1t that can be landed on a moto. Given, most moto riders are not into riding off huge cliffs, but at the apex of some of the jumps they are hitting now they are retardedly high off the ground and often going alot faster then 54 mph. All with not much more travel than bender's bike has. Given the moto is alot more stable and stonger, but its still not inconcievable. Like already said, with the right downside you could theoretically land anything. The Jaw drop's landing is way soft and not super steep, although clearly do-able with some skill, it's not exactly ideal. If they take the time to prepare a landing on this one I could see it happening. Seriously he's still gonna die though.

Can't go huge ? I guess you've never seen the vid of Danny way airing a massive gap into a quarter pipe, then setting a new record airing out. That would make most mountain bikers second guess the stunt, but he does it on no suspension and wheels which are about 2" tall. And Matt Hoffman was towed by a moto into a quarter pipe and aired out HUGE. Granted, he didn't land it, but huge is huge. Learn your sportsblack noise said:BMXers don't go huge, BMX bikes have massive limitations like barely being able to ride off pavement and away from smooth jumps. And BMX is popular, because of the tech stuff they do. Also skateboards can't go huge but people like them.

Go ride "Flying Monkey" sometime.chicodude said:From what i've heard is that he's and intermidiate (sp?) rider with big brass ones
I got (and finished) watching season 3 of Drop In last night. There is a nice Bender segment in there which includes some footage of the Flying Monkey trail. He created that route, correct? I was amazed by the lines they took, it was one of the most gnarly "trails" I've ever seen.MikeD said:Go ride "Flying Monkey" sometime.
MD
Mat has cleanly aired the huge quarter many times, getting around 27 feet of air on the highest. He first built a huge quarter in '93, and he pulled it then, too. He has fallen many times, too, including an incident with a weedeater engine on his bike to get more speed, but he can do it.cjcrashesalot said:And Matt Hoffman was towed by a moto into a quarter pipe and aired out HUGE.
