I was informed today that a kid I grew up with in Salt Lake has been diagnosed with testicular cancer recently, and that it's spread to his lungs and lymph nodes. His family also doesn't have health insurance, and they're already going through a TON of crap as it is (Eviction, teen prenancy, and gasoline fires to name a few), so the thought struck me to hold a benefit ride.

But where to start? I'll need a route, sponsors, and participants. Anyone here have hook ups to LAF? If I could get them involved (Especially since this is the same stuff LA went through), it would most likely help out a ton. Anyone ever organized one of these?

Somebody over at Roadbikereview.com forums is affiliated with the LAF. Not sure of the name (Dave Hickey sounds familar). You might try contacting him, or the LAF directly. Can't imagine they wouldn't help you. Good luck with that, and hope your friend makes it out okay.
